The Power That Heals
Let's say I was to reach through this computer screen right now and break your arm.
If you went to the medical doctor for the fracture, the only treatment you would need is a cast to immobilize the injury.
No drugs, no surgery needed to get the bone to mend.
Somehow, the body knows how to heal itself. The innate intelligence within all of us directs the healing process. When you really think about it, the whole thing is quite miraculous.
If I was to take a chicken bone to the most high tech lab in the world, crack it in half and challenge the scientists there to mend the bone back (without Krazy Glue or duct tape), even with unlimited resources at their disposal, they could not do the job as well as that of your body.
And it doesn't end with a fracture. Say you cut yourself. Antibiotics to prevent an infection aside, no pharmaceutical would be necessary for the body to heal the wound.
Sprained ankle. Strained back. The body knows how to fix them all, because the power that made the body heals the body!
So taking things a step further, a viral or bacterial infection strikes (Swine Flu!)... doesn't the body already know how to fight and destroy these germs that attack us? Without any drug intervention, the immune system on its own can fight the good fight!
How about elevated blood pressure, too much sugar in the blood or high cholesterol? Doesn't it stand to reason that whatever the cause of these conditions may be, the innate intelligence within all of us can correct and eliminate that cause?
Sure, we may need to exercise good judgement and cease habits that exacerbate the condition and/or we may need to start more healthy regimens in our daily lives to facilitate the healing process... but do we really need to depend on drugs so much to do a job that we can do for ourselves?
We've been brainwashed to think that the power that heals is found in a pill, when all along, it's been within us, right here, right from the start!

Agreed Dr. S! But where sould we start to free ourselves from this midset or "Zeitgeist"? Is it possible that this kind of message of "power" exisiting outside the body very pervasive in our culture that it flys under the radar of our discursive reasoning processes? Here's where I start ... the power that heals the body is the Divine ... God if you will ... and I locate the presence of God in everyone. The present zeitgeist of religious thought places God in a far off heaven, banished, if you will. In this void caused by the eviction of God, many silly notions have rushed in to fill the gap. Pharmaceutical solutions to life's problems has done a masterful job of positioning itself in said void. I find it prudent to remind myself from time to time that the term "pharma" referrs to "magic". Who knows? I might be wrong. ASB
