Hole-in-One

Dr. Campos will be adjusting his patients exclusively with an upper cervical technique, commonly referred to as Hole-in-One or HIO.

It is a powerful technique that utilizes a single thrust on the atlas.

I was reluctant to whole-heartedly encourage and support the use of HIO when Dr. Campos first started as an associate.  Mainly because I did not know very much about the technique.  I still don't.  But from what I have observed and studied on my own, from the perspective of both a doctor and a patient, HIO is legit.

And powerful.

The challenge for us now is how we can incorporate this technique with the Honor Box.  An upper cervical chiropractor does not deliver an adjustment to the patient on every visit to the office.  With the use of infra-red scanning, the cervical spine is assessed on every visit.  If the corrective spinal pattern is holding from the previous adjustment and therefore, not reverting to an original baseline pattern, no adjustment is given.

It is a challenge for patients to understand and accept that when they come in for a chiropractic visit they may very well leave without Dr. Campos touching their spine at all.

In all honesty, it is also difficult for me to accept this facet of the HIO protocol.  I understand the reasoning, both scientifically and philosophically... but from a business standpoint it is a challenge to market a chiropractic service to patients that will often not include the actual adjustment.

It will work out, though.  In 2008, we'll make it work.

Make it work well for our patients.
