Pain and Suffering
Same thing, or what?
Nay.
Pain is inevitable. Inescapable. Guaranteed.
Suffering is optional.
The key is to approach pain the right way. Learn from it. Determine what changes in life the pain is trying to tell us we need to make. Recognize the danger with-out or the weakness with-in. The pain is trying to warn us about something!
And we should become fighters. Challenge the pain. Rise above it. Transcend it. Overcome.
Fight and change. Adapt. Make new choices and try new things. Implement technology, wisdom and the help of God and others into our daily routine that our pain may turn from a liability to an asset in our life.
And though we learn, fight and change with the great expectation to triumph over the pain and its source, we must ultimately learn to accept. Accept the situation-- NOT in a spirit of consignment or with the eyes of a victim... but to accept whatever it is that we have and have been given before, during and after the fight. As it is. As it should be.
We do this and we will find that our pain may linger, but we shall not suffer.
Whether it be a sore back, a broken heart, a lonely soul, even a mind clouded with regret and guilt, the pain within can be controlled. The pain is an inalienable fact born of the imperfections of this life.
But to suffer, to suffer...
that's optional.
