Stuck!
It was a beautiful day. The H-1 traffic was flowing pretty well for a Friday afternoon.
But then it happened. A large truck jammed under an overpass because it was too high for the clearance. Police and road crews soon arrived to the scene and began to pry it out, but nothing worked. Everyone had a different idea on how to get the truck loose. At first they tried to empty the load, but that only made the truck less heavy causing it to rise higher and get stuck even more. They tried iron crowbars and steel wedges. They revved the engine. Every typical “by-the-book” method and tool used for freeing stuck vehicles was considered and applied. But everything they tried only seemed to make matters worse.
As you can imagine, traffic became a nightmare. No one was going anywhere. Tempers were getting hot!
Stuck right in front of the whole situation was Grandma, who was taking her grandson home from school. The eight year old boy at first enjoyed all of this excitement and with great interest watched the men struggle to free the truck. But after a while, it got boring and he realized that he was late for baseball practice. So at last, he just couldn’t take it anymore! Before Tutu could stop him, he jumped out of the car, slipped past the cops and walked over to one of the workers and tugged on his pants. “Hey!” he shouted, “Let da air out of da tires!”
Problem solved.
Many times the challenges in life cannot be resolved with the same old way of thinking. Many times when faced with serious problems, we so readily place our (blind) faith entirely in the experience and wisdom of the experts-- without question or even so much as a second thought.
Consider pain relief. Ask 100 people what they do when they have a bad headache and at least 98 of them will say, “Take an aspirin,” or some other painkiller like Tylenol or Advil. But is taking a drug really the best way to get out of pain, however?
At best, a drug offers only temporary relief. At worst, taking a drug over and over again to solve pain problems can lead to kidney damage, liver problems and intestinal bleeding.
Despite what the “experts” say on TV commercials, the best way to address problems with pain is to eliminate the cause of the pain! Chiropractic is all about this. Simply eliminate the cause and the effect will cease.
Chiropractors identify the source of the pain and then goes about to eliminate that source as it relates to the spine. We focus on the diagnosis and correction of spinal misalignments and other spinal pathologies that can trigger spinal joint inflammation, muscle spasms and nerve irritation.
If a spinal misalignment, or what chiropractors refer to as a vertebral subluxation, is the source of your pain, the best course of correction is to focus on adjusting the spine back into proper alignment. Drugs might seem to be the proper, “by-the-book” choice, but it may not be the most effective solution.
Who do you know that is struggling day in and day out with pain? Who is that person STUCK taking pill after pill hoping that one day his or her health challenges will be solved? Who do you know that is STUCK under the overpass of pain, helpless and unable to get free?
They need you to say confidently and firmly, like that young brother on the H-1, “Try chiropractic! Have faith in your own body’s innate ability to heal instead of those drugs!”
Problem solved. . .
If they decide to follow your good advice.
