The Associate
On the day after Labor Day, we will begin a new chapter here at Hawaiian Pacific Chiropractic.
I will be working with a new associate doctor.
His name is Dr. Juan Campos. Unlike most associate doctors to join an exisiting practice, Dr. Campos is not fresh out of chiropractic school. In fact, he is actually fresh out of retirement. Dr. Campos had practiced in San Francisco for over 33 years and has been a professor of Ethics and Chiropractic Philosophy at Life Chiropractic College.
I met Juan about three years ago, when out of the blue, he showed up at my office. He watched me for a while as I adjusted my patients and when I had a spare moment we chatted for a bit. He then asked if I would give him a chiropractic adjustment. "Sure," I said. He offered to pay, but I extended the service to him for free as a professional courtesy.
Right after the adjustment, Dr. Campos invited me to go on an El Salvador Chiropractic Mission to take place later on that year. I was a little stunned. "On our first meeting," I thought, "this guy has the nerve to ask me to travel with a group of chiropractors to a third world nation and care for his people!"
Fast forward to 2007, after keeping in touch over the past years, as most of you know, I finally took Dr. Campos up on his invitation this year and spent a week in El Salvador serving the wonderful people there.
As we have come to know each other, it became evident that if Juan would join my practice we could together better spread chiropractic and the Honor Box to the people of Hawaii. And so although he came to Hawaii with the intention to retire with his wife, he realized that his own chiropractic mission was not yet complete.
I've invited several doctors to join me in practice and run with the Honor Box. All have rejected my offer. Until now. Dr. Campos stands as the first doctor who has finally agreed to (as he puts it in his Spanish accent) "honor the box."

I went to El Salvador in June 2006 with Dr. Campos and Dr. Dill. I was placed at San Vicente and had a great time! I hope you also had some amazing experiences there.
